صلاح علي يطالب بتوفير متخصصين في لغة الإشارة

بعث النائب الثاني لرئيس مجلس النواب صلاح علي أمس (السبت) خطابا إلى وزيرة الثقافة والإعلام الشيخة مي بنت محمد آل خليفة، داعيا إياها توفير الترجمة بلغة الإشارة على شاشة البحرين الفضائية.
كما أرسل خطابا آخر موجها إلى وزير الصحة فيصل الحمر مناديا خلاله بضرورة تدارس إمكانية توظيف مترجمين للغة الإشارة بالوزارة، لمساعدة الأفراد من ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة والمترددين على المراكز الصحية ومجمع السلمانية الطبي لتلقي العلاج على شرح مشكلتهم الصحية وأعراض مرضهم للأشخاص المعنيين من أطباء، وممرضين، وعاملين بالحقل الصحي، ما يمكن جميع الأطراف من صحة التشخيص والعلاج، موضحا أن لغة التواصل ضرورية أثناء استعراض المشكلات الصحية تجنبا من سوء فهم المرض ومن ثم التشخيص.
وجاءت الخطابات المرسلة على أثر استقبال النائب الثاني خطابا من رئيس جمعية الصم البحرينية مهدي النعيمي مستعرضا خلاله طلبات واحتياجات هذه الفئة من المجتمع، مطالبا إياه بضرورة النظر إلى أوضاع المواطنين من ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة ومحاولة إيجاد حلول بديلة لتحسين مستوى معيشتهم وخاصة في ظل ظروف الحياة الصعبة وغلاء المعيشة

TISLR 10 invites papers addressing any aspect of research that is both theoretical and addresses sign languages. The theme of this conference "Research Methodologies in Sign Language Linguistics" highlights the fact that there are many different theoretical approaches that contribute to our understanding of this typological class of languages. Generative and cognitive approaches, quantitative and qualitative approaches all assist in proposing new generalizations about sign languages and, importantly, in independently validating previous proposals made in the field. Each approach provides a fresh perspective which can help our field move forward as a cumulative discipline.

TISLR 10 will include keynote presentations, organized sessions, and poster sessions on such topics as:
- cognitive linguistics of sign languages
- corpus linguistics of sign languages
- the emergence of sign languages in a historical context
- field work on sign languages
- language acquisition in L1 environments
- language variation in sign languages
- neurolinguistics/psycholinguistics of sign languages
- phonology, phonetics, prosody of sign languages
- morphology of sign languages
- sign language and artistic endeavors
- sign language and literature
- sign recognition, synthesis, and understanding of sign languages
- statistical language models of sign languages
- syntax, semantics, pragmatics of sign languages
- theoretical innovation in L2 acquisition of sign languages

Submission of Papers: Prospective authors are invited to submit a 500 word abstract (+ 1 page of examples figures and references if necessary) to our website by November 15, 2009 to the TISLR 10 Scientific Committee. Notification will occur by January 15, 2010. All abstracts will be handled and reviewed electronically at < http://linguistlist.org/confcustom/TISLR10>. Abstracts should include a clear statement of the theoretical issue to be addressed, the research methodology to be presented, and a concise summary of the findings/conclusion.

NOTE: To facilitate interpreter planning, please indicate AFTER THE TITLE of your paper which language you will present in if your abstract is accepted: ASL; English; other sign language.

Special Sessions: Proposals for Special Sessions will also be considered on a themes of particular relevance. The deadline for these is October 15, 2009. Please see guidelines for this on the conference website http://www.purdue.edu/TISLR10 .

Venue and Language Information: Purdue University is located in Indiana, approximately 1.5 hrs. from Indianapolis and 2.5 hrs from Chicago airports. This conference will provide interpreters translating between English and ASL, as well as interpreters translating between English and International Signs. Authors wishing interpretation to or from other sign languages are kindly encouraged to bring their interpreters and requested to contact the interpreter coordinator to make further arrangements. Authors are encouraged take advantage of our new 'direct communication' policy, which promotes the use of a signed language in making presentations. A group of advisors will be available to assist presenters who would like help in preparing their talk in a sign language. Please consult the website for further information.

[Deaf Arab] 4th Conference of the International Society for Gesture Studies

4th Conference of the International Society for Gesture Studies (ISGS)
July 25 – 30, 2010 – European University Viadrina Frankfurt/Oder

The International Society for Gesture Studies (ISGS) announces its fourth conference,
Gesture – Evolution, Brain, and Linguistic Structures, to be held July 25-30, 2010, in Frankfurt/Oder (near Berlin).

Formats

Individual papers:

talks of 20 minutes and 10 minutes for discussion
poster talks of 5 minutes oral presentation
Best Paper Award PhD students can apply for the Best Paper Award. The three best contributions of a poster talk win a plenary lecture at the end of the conference. The best of the three lectures receives the Best Paper Award and wins reimbursement of the travel costs.

Panels: integrated thematic sessions of at least 90 minutes, i.e. 3 presentations

Submission of abstracts

Abstracts should

not exceed 500 words - references are excluded from this count
clearly indicate a talk/poster talk/panel title

Call for papers

For the forthcoming conference, we invite submissions for presentations under the following themes. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

Deaf perspectives on interpreting and communication
Communication mismatch
Interpreting in specialist settings
Interpreting in emotionally stressful situations
Interpreters, fallout and vicarious trauma
Effective interpreting, politeness, face and culture
Open topic (papers in this theme will be selected on their merits and interest to the field).

Due to the international nature of the conference, audiences will come from different situations and professional backgrounds. We strongly encourage proposals which bridge these cultural differences and be understandable to delegates from any country. We welcome presentations in alternative formats (video, PowerPoint, etc.) and in sign language, provided these are made accessible through transcripts.

Please send your submission in the form of a proposed title, an abstract (approx. 200 words) and a short biography to judithm@directlearn.co.uk

Please note that this is a practitioner conference and presentations do not need to be overly academic. Far more important is that the content is useful and interesting to deaf people, interpreters and others working with deaf people. If you have ideas, please discuss them with us - we always like to try new ways of doing things!

All accepted presenters will receive a free conference place and a honorarium. CEUs are available for members of the RID from the USA and Canada.

[Deaf Arab] حملة الكويت بيئة صالحة للمعاقين طالبت بتشريعات تحد من التمييز ضدهم

كتبت مرفت عبد الدايم : طالب وفد حملة الكويت بيئة صالحة للمعاقين نائب رئيس الوزراء للشؤون القانونية ووزير العدل ووزير الاوقاف والشؤون الاسلامية المستشار راشد الحماد بضرورة تسهيل وصولهم للمساجد لاسيما المراة المعاقة لعدم تهيئة المساجد بما يحتاجونه من مقاييس ومعايير تسهل حركتهم، وترجمة خطبة الجمعة بلغة الاشارة للصم في عدد من المساجد وكذلك نشر الوعي ورفع الثقافة الدينية لدى هذه الفئة، وتعيين مترجمي اشارة للصم في معظم المحاكم الكويتية.

جاء ذلك لدى استقبال المستشار الحماد وفد الحملة في كلية بوزارة الاوقاف برئاسة فواز الحصبان رئيس لجنة العلاقات العامة والاعلام في الحملة وعضوية كل من علي خليفة والعنود الحربي وسالم العبد الغفور الناشطين في حقوق المعاقين.

وعرض الوفد على المستشار الحماد عدداً من المتطلبات الضرورية التي يحتاج اليها المعاقون، وطالبوه بتبني مزيد من التشريعات في باب العقوبات التي تحد من كل اشكال التمييز ضد المعاقين وتدعو لصون كرامتهم.

ووعد الوزير الحماد اعضاء الوفد بان وزارتي الاوقاف والعدل ستأخذان في الحسبان مستقبلاً تلبية احتياجات ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة في المباني والمنشآت الخاصة بهم وانه سيقوم بدراسة تعديل المرافق الحالية.

وحملة الكويت بيئة صالحة للمعاقين انطلقت عام 2007 من المجلس البلدي وتهدف الى تأهيل واعادة تأهيل جميع الظروف البيئية للمعاقين في الكويت، وتدعو المجتمع لتقبل المعاقين ودمجهم في المجتمع وافساح المجال لهم للمشاركة العامة في المجتمع.

مقارنة بين الانفلونزا العادية والخنازير

الأعراض	الأنفلونزا العادية	أنفلونزا الخنازير
الحرارة	تكون نادرة	تعتبر من اساسيات الاعراض لهذا المرض وقد تستمر في بعض الحالات الى 3 او 4 ايام
السعال	يكون مصحوب بالبلغم	يكون حآد وبدون بلغم (كحة جافة)
آلام الجسم والصداع	خفيفة ونادرة الحدوث	حآدة جدآ وتعتبر من أساسيات الاعراض
إنسداد الأنف	تعتبر من الأساسيات ويتلاشى في أسبوع	لاتوجد عوارض انسداد أو رشح الأنف
القشعريرة	نادرة الحدوث	تعتبر من أساسيات الأعراض أيضآ لهذا المرض حيث ثبت ان 60 بالمئة من الحالات عانة منه
التعب والإرهاق	خفيفة إلى حد ما	تكون حآدة وقوية التأثير وتعتبر أيضآ من العوارض الاساسية للمرض
العطاس	من الأعراض الأساسية	نادر جدآ
المفاجئة	تتطور الأعراض بشكل بطيء مع مرور الايام	تتطور الأعراض بشكل مفاجيء وسريع في خلال، زمن 3 الي 6 ساعات فقط ، فهذه الأنفلونزا تضرب الجسم بعنف وتسبب الصداع والآلآم والحرارة العالية
الصداع	بسيط ونادر الحدوث	قوي ومتلازم مع أعراض هذا المرض
التهاب الحلق	من اساسيات المرض	غير موجود ونادر الحدوث
الآم الصدر أو ثقل الصدر	خفيف وفي بعض الحالات متوسط	حاد وشديد

The Difference between Cold and Swine Flu Symptoms

Symptom	Cold	Swine Flu
Fever	Fever is rare with a cold.	Fever is usually present with the flu in up to 80% of all flu cases. A temperature of 100°F or higher for 3 to 4 days is associated with the flu.
Coughing	A hacking, productive (mucus- producing) cough is often present with a cold.	A non-productive (non-mucus producing) cough is usually present with the flu (sometimes referred to as dry cough).
Aches	Slight body aches and pains can be part of a cold.	Severe aches and pains are common with the flu.
Stuffy Nose	Stuffy nose is commonly present with a cold and typically resolves spontaneously within a week.	Stuffy nose is not commonly present with the flu.
Chills	Chills are uncommon with a cold.	60% of people who have the flu experience chills.
Tiredness	Tiredness is fairly mild with a cold.	Tiredness is moderate to severe with the flu.
Sneezing	Sneezing is commonly present with a cold.	Sneezing is not common with the flu.
Sudden Symptoms	Cold symptoms tend to develop over a few days.	The flu has a rapid onset within 3-6 hours. The flu hits hard and includes sudden symptoms like high fever, aches and pains.
Headache	A headache is fairly uncommon with a cold.	A headache is very common with the flu, present in 80% of flu cases.
Sore Throat	Sore throat is commonly present with a cold.	Sore throat is not commonly present with the flu.
Chest Discomfort	Chest discomfort is mild to moderate with a cold.	Chest discomfort is often severe with the flu.
